Q. How does Enviro Bin-Fresh work?

A. Enviro Bin-Fresh is a very absorbent product. It absorbs liquids and dampness, drying up any wet slimy areas in the bin, but more importantly, it is also capable of absorbing gases (noxious smells) and locking them in it's crystalline structure. Under a microscope the powder particles look a bit like pumice stone i.e, full of little holes. Gases like methane and ammonia are the smells associated with rubbish and household waste.

Q. Is Enviro Bin-Fresh a natural product?

A. Yes. Enviro Bin-Fresh is made using a non-chemical powder of marine origin. A citrus based disinfectant, natural aromatic oils are added to give Enviro Bin-Fresh it's distinctive aroma.

Q. Can I use Multi-Worm on pregnant mares or bitches?

A. There are no nasties in Multi-Worm; the way Multi-Worm works is very gentle. It expels adult worms from the gut without any harsh chemicals. It is totally safe to use on all pregnant animals and their progeny.

Q. What is the effect of Enviro Bin-Fresh from an ecology point of view?

A. Enviro Bin-Fresh is beneficial to the environment as it locks up gases that would otherwise escape into the air we breathe. If you have ever been near to a smelly landfill site you will know what we mean. After it has done it's job it biodegrades. Remember also that we are only using a few grams in a bin full of rubbish. Enviro Bin-Fresh is made from raw materials that are plentiful in supply.

Q. What is Multi-Plex and what does HA stand for?

A. Multi-Plex is the trade name for our special joint and tendon product, it contains Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, Bromelain, HA, all these are added to a marine extract base that is rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, micro and macro nutrients and amino acids, we feel the reason this product performs so well is because the whole product works in a synergistic way getting the maximum benefit out of each ingredient.

HA stands for HYALURONIC ACID. This ingredient has a very beneficial effect on ligaments and tendons quickly speeding up their repair. We were one of the first UK companies to use HA following positive work in Dubai and the Emirates on Endurance horses.

Q. Does Enviro Bin-Fresh kill maggots and flies?

A. Enviro Bin-Fresh is not an insecticide and does not kill maggots or flies but it's aromatic oil mix does repel them from the bin area. Flies are drawn to the smells associated with household waste. By removing these smells with Enviro Bin-Fresh, flies are kept away and no flies means no maggots.

Q. Should I put Enviro Bin-Fresh directly onto the waste in the bin?

A. No, this is not necessary. Even when waste is bagged up, for example in old supermarket carrier bags or bin liners, it gives off gases and smells into the bin. Therefore, because Enviro Bin-Fresh absorbs these smells in the bin it is not necessary for it to come into contact with the rubbish.

Q. Why use Equi-Vita with Laminal?

A. It is fair to say that not everything is known about Laminitis, there are many triggers that can cause the problem. We have adopted a two-product programme to solve this problem in horses and ponies. Firstly the Equi-Vita is given to cleanse the blood and get the vital body organs working properly. Equi-Vita is a fermented product which is made from citrus and other fruit juices, beets and berry extracts, which creates a slightly acidic product which works on the liver, kidneys and bladder cleaning out old residues, a bit like a natural detox, it also has an appetite stimulating effect and gets the gut working well leading to better digestion. The other area of activity is cleansing the blood and creating the correct blood pH. This is very important with laminitics as it is easier to pump clean blood of the correct viscosity round the feet, than dirty blood.

Laminal is the second part of the programme, it is homeopathic and helps support the laminae to ease pain and repair tissue. Both products must be used over a full 15-week course; some owners see a dramatic improvement in 5 or 6 weeks and stop the programme this is wrong, the full course must be given.

Q. Why have you stopped using Citronella in Fly-Pel?

A. We had to remove Citronella from Fly-Pel because of new EU Legislation; this came into force at the end of the 2006 season. Now any insect repellents using Citronella are illegal. We have done extensive trial work with a new repellent, which has actually improved the efficacy of Fly-Pel, so we are very confident for the 2007 fly season that we can keep flies and midges away from you and your horse.

Q. How do I use Sweetch 1& 2?

A. Sweet Itch or Summer Eczema as it is called on the Continent, causes a lot of discomfort to horses and ponies. We have learned that to successfully solve the problem, it has to be approached from the inside of the body with an oral product, at the same time using a soothing spray on the damaged skin and hair.

Sweetch 1 is used as an external spray to de-sensitise the toxins left by the midge bites, then cool down the area to stop rubbing and then soothe and help replenish hair and skin growth.

Sweetch 2 is a homeopathic product that is given orally, to strengthen the immune response and continue the work from the inside into areas already responding to Sweetch 1 spray. Using the Sweetch programme has proved very effective over 5 summers.

Normally through the season you will use 1 bottle of Sweetch 2 and 2 bottles of the Sweetch 1 spray.

Q. I buy Multi-Worm for my horses can I use the same product on my dogs and cats?

A. Multi-Worm began its life worming game birds reared for shooting and free range laying hens. In 1997 following trials the sale of Multi-Worm into the horse market began, it is estimated that each month19000 horses and ponies are on the Multi-Worm programme.

So Multi-Worm can be used on many species it is just the monthly amount that varies, please ask us for a Monthly Dosage Sheet, it can be posted or e-mailed to you.

Q. How do I use Equi-San-Dry effectively?

A. Equi-San-Dry is a highly absorbent dry powder disinfectant, it is used to soak up moisture, help improve stable hygiene and most importantly absorb and lock up gases such as Methane and Ammonia, creating a clean fresh ammonia free environment for horses to live in, high ammonia levels can lead to respiratory disease problems.

Equi-San-Dry can be used under stable mats, simply remove mats and cleanout floor area, clean off underside of mats, then sprinkle 100 grams of the powder per sq meter over the floor area and replace the mats.

On straw and shaving beds, simply remove the dung and sprinkle a handful of powder over the damp area, this will absorb ammonia, quickly dry the bed and actually saves money on bedding over the housed period.

Q. I am very pleased with the eggs per gram test results I regularly get back from the laboratory for my 4 adult horses. I have used Multi-Worm for 3 years and now my mare is going to foal in the next few days. I would like to know when I can start my foal on Multi-Worm?

A. I am a big believer in making sure that nothing interferes with the foal receiving lots of Colostrum, the mare's antibody rich first milk is the blue print for a healthy later life. The antibodies begin to weaken after around 10 to 14 days. With this in mind it is advisable to start the Multi-Worm programme when the foal is 1 month old, giving 25ml every 2 weeks over the next 6 weeks, then drop to 25ml on a monthly basis.

Q. Three weeks ago my Labrador bitch had 9 puppies, now they all have runny tummies. I have kept everything spotlessly clean and my vet says he does not want to prescribe drugs. Can you help me please?

A. What your vet is saying is that in his opinion your bitch and her pups do not have a viral or bacterial gut problem, so antibiotics are not the answer. This is a nutritional or a body metabolism problem.

I think that in this instance that tummy upsets, looseness etc are caused by the bitchs' hormonal changes following birth, this occurs every 20 - 25 days with the oestrus cycle. Also around this time the quality of the mother’s colostrum is very low so the puppies are receiving lower levels of antibodies which lead to scours.

We recommend our product Caromix. This will quickly dry the bitch and puppies up and get their micro-flora working well. It normally works in 24 hours and this should be followed by either a pro-biotic like our product Life-Aid or a few spoonfuls of Organic Greek style Natural Yogurt. Caromix can also be given every day until weaning. This will protect the animals and remember the old adage, "Prevention is better than the cure."

Q. Can you please explain how De-Lice works? I am using Louse powders and Insecticides on my horses, this last Winter has been awful and despite using the external products lice are still a problem.

A. Over the past decade external parasites have grown more resistant to things like Louse powder, just like the internal parasites are showing a resistance to wormers. All parasites need a host to survive on. De-Lice is given orally in a monthly programme, it is activated as it passes over the animals tongue and eventually gets into the blood stream which then transports it to the capilliaries under the animal's skin.

At this point it remains there, until a lice bites the host ( horse, cattle, dogs etc) it then works systemically creating an alien taste which stops the lice biting, the lice then leaves the host, if it cannot find another animal it dies. It is a bit like the way garlic works as a fly repellent, i.e. through the skin creating an invisible vapour which flies don’t like. It must also be noted that when animals are housed in groups the whole group must receive De-Lice. Stables, kennels etc must be thoroughly cleansed, washed down and disinfected too.
